Making SA Safer: SAPS Joins Forces with iER

SAPS supports iER’s commitment to faster responses to crime.

iER’s Manager, Mrs. Monique Delport recently met with the SAPS Provincial Operational Command Centres (POCC) in Gauteng, Free State, Western Cape and Limpopo.

The meetings recognise how the public use the iER mobile app and 24/7 call centres to respond to crime where SAPS intervention is required.

Together, iER and the SAPS are exploring modern crime fighting initiatives. iER is one of South Africa’s most comprehensive 24/7 emergency response call centres. Our centralised 24-hour call centre connects you to the nearest SAPS stations and or response vehicles.

In this light, SAPS, and other iER partners, Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA) and the Private Security Sector, form part of the Eyes and Ears Initiative (E2). This is an official crime fighting project based on sharing information through the POCC.

The Private Security Sector receives the iER Benefit

We have rewarded the Private Security Sector with the iER benefit. This benefit extends their geographic footprint. It also enhances their responsiveness to crime hotspot areas.

iER’s mobile app pinpoints each user’s location and when the alert button is activated, trained iER call centre staff respond and dispatch the appropriate security response teams to the exact crime scene.

iER Manager, Mrs. Monique Delport is proud of the alliance between SAPS and iER and through visiting the POCC, their efforts were rewarded by presenting them with a Certificate of Appreciation.

“Criminal activity is an urgent social crisis in South Africa. Stronger ties between the SAPS and iER will assure South Africans that they are safe,” said Mrs Delport.
