iER Event Lenmed Randfontein Trauma Awareness Day
iER was a proud participant of the Trauma Awareness Day, which Lenmed Randfontein hosted on 03 June 2023.
The event allowed public members to meet with different Emergency Service Providers within the community. Public members also got to meet with the iER team to learn more about how the iER App can help connect them to services in an emergency.
The day was filled with insightful and educational Emergency Demonstrations that portrayed various roles and functions of emergency responders when faced with emergencies. These demonstrations were conducted by service providers that partook in the event, namely Ambulance Services, Armed Response Services and Firefighters.
One lucky winner walked away with an iER gift Bag after downloading the iER App. Read on to learn about the importance of emergency awareness.
The Importance of Emergency Awareness
Communities need to have a proactive approach to safety. Community preparedness is crucial to increasing efforts to ensure everyone has the education required in an emergency.
According to research, people who think they’re prepared for disasters are often not.
iER has identified the need for community involvement with local emergency awareness. Despite the frequent statistics of local crimes, it’s still difficult for the public to know how to respond. The nature of proactive planning encourages participation to help reduce crime and the consequences of specific emergencies.

How Can Local Communities Improve Emergency Preparedness?
Partner with Local Resources
The Lenmed Randfontein Trauma Awareness Day has highlighted the need to achieve safety objectives through collaboration with local resources. This is an excellent opportunity to provide more continuity and flexibility to maintain public safety. Most importantly, it enhances the use of resources to benefit ordinary citizens.

Recruit Community Members for Participation
The fact of the matter is that more community participation to help prevent crime and emergencies benefits everyone in the long run. Not only does it show that ordinary citizens are not helpless, but it ensures unity to help better communities. In addition, it helps to create a safe environment that assists with crime prevention in South Africa’s society more effectively.
Educate Communities on Proactive Preparedness
There are various ways to provide the best tips and practices for communities to use in their homes. For instance, educational material focusing on the iER App and how the silent alert and panic button features can be used are essential. Residents should know how to react when faced with any emergency.
Use Emergency Notification Systems
Did you know the iER App is one of the country’s leading and innovative emergency notification systems? This integrated system allows you to safely alert emergency responders to any emergency, wherever you are in the country. A team of qualified call centre agents dispatches resources using precise GPS location tracking to ensure you receive appropriate immediate assistance.
Encourage Subscriptions on an Emergency Notification System
Communities must access efficient emergency systems. As part of the need for preparedness when faced with an emergency, it’s ideal for residents to download emergency alert applications such as the iER App. This allows for effortless communication to receive prompt responses during life-threatening emergencies.

Save on Costs
Contacting emergency responders using standard methods, such as calling with your airtime, can take longer to receive help at the right time. When you rely on innovative means such as the iER App, you save time and money when calling for help. You only need to be connected to the internet to get the most out of emergency response.
iER encourages more community members to join in emergency awareness. It’s necessary for the public to be more educated on using resources and to learn how to improve safety measures in case of emergency response. iER has collaborated with over 13 000 medical and non-medical emergency service providers to ensure communities remain safe no matter the situation.
